Back Deck and away…

Colorado Rockies. 6,500' elevation. Early 1990's. Summer. Midnight, back deck... stargazing.

Bathed in the resounding rhythms of crickets, frogs and nighthawks, I lie comfortably lost to the peaceful night... gazing straight up into the inky, moonless sky wildly strewn with billions upon billions of shining white flickering stars... planets, suns, galaxies - whole constellations as adrift as our own Earth, when suddenly...

...within my peripheral...

...an extremely fleet astral motion caught my attention as...

...from about 45° to my right and due South across the open sky came the straight and smoothly sailing teeniest, tiniest white light, steadily shining like a glint of sunlight against the dark, infinite canvas...

...barely visible... and only more so from my peripheral gaze...

...four astonishingly short seconds till overhead...

...where it paused...

...for about a quarter of a second...

...then, shot 90 degrees to its right, well across the Eastern horizon and, quicker than the blink of an eye... had completely disappeared.

Curious company...

...on that sublimely synchronous starry night...
